Our Journey Through the World of Art

When everything starts with a motorbike trip in Asia

Since opening his first art gallery in Bangkok in 2011, Eric Monteil has constantly been working on bringing a new vision to setup an efficient art market in Thailand to reality, by initiating an industry paradigm shift through new technologies, launching Silapix, a platform to connect artists with collectors and businesses. His passion for art and interior decoration has been constant for many years. Eric realized he could launch a business in this field during 2010 whilst he spent seven months travelling on a motorcycle throughout Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar and Indonesia). On his journey, he met numerous talented local artists and craftsmen who were struggling to sell their art and make a living. This is when and how the idea of Rock Around Asia Art Gallery was born, forming the beginning of Silapix and Art Consulting Asia, a long amazing and enthralling story to tell.

Eric Monteil

Eric Monteil is Founder Managing Director, Art consultant and Curator. Born in 1967 in France, Eric considers himself as a worldwide citizen, also as a creative entrepreneur with a true passion for innovation, history, art and design. He grew up as a gentle rebel and studied chemistry and physics at university in Paris. Latterly he graduated with an Executive MBA. Eric worked as an innovator in various industries: finance, IT, cosmetics and air sports before flying beyond his own horizons to “Rock Around Asia” on a motorcycle in 2010. That’s how he came into art with a new proposal for the art industry, focused on serving the hospitality, residential, commercial and cultural sectors. Eric’s pledge is to give properties a soul by enhancing the interior design with bespoke works of art. His vision intends to use new technologies to build the first sustainable online art market for businesses and art lovers and bring transparency to the art industry. The promotion of art and culture remains the project of his life, his absolute passion, his mission on earth, his contribution to human legacy and nothing can stop it, because “Art is Art, and everything else is everything else” (Fredrick Adolph “Ad” Reinhardt).

Art Consulting Asia's Businesses & Artists Community

Press review

Laurel Tuohy, Jan 8, 2021 for Leisure & Travel Asia Magazine

From grande dame Siam Kempinski to the new Hotel Royal Hoi An, the best hotels today use their walls as portals to culture, cultivate soul, and give you reason to feel. Eric Monteil, a longtime art lover, came into hospitality art consulting from a business perspective, founding Art Consulting Asia and then Silapix, a management platform to connect artists with public projects that needed art—like hotels. A French national who lives in Saigon, he has worked with Le Meridien there, as well as The St. Regis Bangkok and Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, among other brand names. At Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok, he consulted on all 2,000 pieces of art in the city center hotel before expanding the collaboration into Siam Kempinski Art Gallery, an online gallery showcasing artists and pieces related to Siam Kempinski’s art collection and a complete description of each artwork on public display.
